Pamela Harris was a patient receiving parenteral nutrition who worked to set up the Nightingale Trust for Nutritional Support in 2005. Her aim was train caregivers who provide nutritional support to give safe, expert and compassionate care. The Pamela Harris Medal Lecture and educational grant is awarded in her honour.
Originally awarded at the National Nurses Nutrition Group (NNNG) conference it has been included in the British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) Conference programme since 2019, reaching a large multi-disciplinary audience. The Pamela Harris Lecture provides an exciting opportunity for nurses to submit an abstract which details a piece of work where the primary focus is improving patient care or management.
